Baccarat is really the player (Punto) playing against the Banker (Banco), with
each one at odds with the other and wanting to win one hand valued at 9 points.
That is the eason the it is called Punto Banco. As a player, you can bet on
Punto or Banco. On the other hand, the player who is Banco can only bet on
Banco. There is a Shoe that holds the baccarat card pack and it remains with the
same player as long as Banco wins. When Punto wins, the Shoe is transferred to
the next player. As Banco, the casino will earn 5% commission from your baccarat
winnings. This is acceptable because Banco has an edge and wins more often than
Punto.
Playing Steps
How to play
• You get two cards from the dealer, who holds two cards as well
• Then compare card values and the player highest to 9 wins.
• If both sides have 9, the dealer takes back the two sets of cards and
deals another round.
• A 'Natural' is when you hold an 8 or 9 in your hand. No more cards
are dealt. Occasionally, when you are holding low scoring cards, the casino will
allow you to receive an additional third card.
• The player who comes closest to 9 wins.
Rules
1) For purposes of the game of Baccarat, only cards valued up to 9 are
used, and Aces have a value of.
2) Suits of cards (hearts, clubs etc) don't count, only the numbers are
used. 3) If the total value of your cards reaches the double figures,
the left digit is dropped. So a 28 or 18 becomes an 8.
